Hello! I am happy to introduce myself as school counselor at Madisonville Intermediate School! I am a Madisonville native beginning my 5th year in school counseling. My career began as a high school counselor in 2015 until I came to MIS in 2017. I love working with this age group and am glad to be able to spend ample time on direct student services through classes and small groups. My spare time is spent with my husband and our son, Hudson, who was born in March 2019. I enjoy playing with our three dogs, hiking, kayaking, traveling and Tennessee football!

School counselors are responsible for helping students succeed in and out of the classroom. We work with students individually and in groups to promote positive behavior and healthy choices. School counselors also frequently work with families by providing information and resources.

School counselors focus on the areas of academic, social, emotional and college/career readiness!

As school counselor at MIS, one of my tasks is to teach a weekly guidance class to students in which we discuss the following topics throughout the year:

  • respect

  • conflict management

  • hygiene

  • study skills

  • friendship

  • bullying

  • coping skills

  • stress management

  • goal-setting

  • social skills

  • careers

  • ...and much more!
