I am a twenty-three year veteran teacher beginning my teaching career at Madisonville Intermediate School where I have always taught.  I have, however, taught all three grade levels at MIS, but 5th grade is my favorite and where my heart is.  I love the interaction and curiosity with my ten-year old students. I have been the school coordinator for “Read to Succeed Program” for Six Flags for a decade now. My classes are active in 4-H and have been the 4-H Class of the year for eight consecutive years. I have been blessed with some accolades during my tenure but working with children is the greatest. I have received the honor of being teacher of the year for MIS, 4-H teacher of the year for Monroe County, and nominated for the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce teacher of the year. I have been a teacher representative for my grade level and on the Accelerated Reader committee. I love watching my students learn to “love” reading! Teaching is actually my second career, but I cannot imagine doing anything else! What an honor and blessing it has been. I tell my students they are loved, they are important, and they can do anything!  Outside of school, I have two wonderful grandchildren that fill my heart. I am blessed more than I deserve.
