I’m so glad you’re here!
Welcome to our classroom! I’m Mrs. Packett, and I am incredibly excited to spend this year learning, growing, laughing, and making memories with your child.
In our classroom, we are more than a group of students who happen to share a room—we are a Classroom Family. We look out for one another, celebrate one another, learn from our mistakes, and make sure every person knows that they belong.
In our classroom, we believe:
You are SMART.
You are KIND.
You are LOVED.
You can do HARD THINGS.
These aren't just words we say daily. They are words we live by.
Fourth grade is a year of tremendous growth. Students are becoming more independent thinkers, problem-solvers, readers, writers, mathematicians, friends, and leaders. There will be moments when learning feels easy and moments when it feels really, really hard. Both are part of learning.
I want my students to know that mistakes aren't something to fear—they are opportunities to learn. I want them to be willing to ask questions, try again, take healthy risks, and keep going when something doesn't come easily.
Most importantly, I want every child who walks through our classroom door to know:
YOU BELONG.
YOU MATTER.
YOU ARE CAPABLE.
A Little About Our Classroom
Our classroom is a place where learning and character go hand in hand.
Throughout the year, we'll spend time talking about the choices we make and the people we are becoming. We will explore character traits such as kindness, integrity, self-control, perseverance, responsibility, and learning from failure.
Because here's the thing:
Actions Matter.
Words Matter.
Thoughts Matter.
The way we treat ourselves and the people around us matters just as much as what we learn from a textbook.
What I Hope Your Child Takes With Them
Of course, I want my students to leave fourth grade stronger readers, writers, mathematicians, and thinkers.
But I also hope they leave believing:
- I can figure things out.
- It's okay to make mistakes.
- I can learn from those mistakes.
- My words and actions matter.
- I can be kind and still be strong.
- I have something valuable to contribute.
- I can do hard things.
If they leave my classroom knowing they are capable, valued, and loved—and believing they can tackle whatever comes next—then we've done something pretty special.
Families Are Part of Our Team
I believe that the best school years happen when teachers, students, and families work together.
Please know that I value communication and partnership. I want you to feel comfortable reaching out with questions, celebrations, concerns, or simply something you think I should know about your child.
We may be the ones together in the classroom each day, but your child belongs to all of us.
